Please use these guidelines in selling your scrap metal:
Materials that we do not accept:
- Trash, concrete, dirt, wood or liquids/fluids of any type
- Sealed containers or enclosed tanks
- Hazardous, flammable or radioactive material
- Items containing CFCs, PCBs, asbestos or mercury
- Lithium, Ni-Cad or Alkaline batteries
Federal law prohibits purchase from individuals without documentation of ownership – government, railroad or public utility metals, street light poles, road guard rail, street signs, water meter covers, storm water grates, new building construction or utility materials, historical markers, grave markers, cemetery urns, utility access covers or beer kegs over 7.75 gal. Refer to the Metal Theft Prevention Act of 2012.

South Carolina Laws:
- Driver’s license or state issued ID required
- SC law requires a permit (issued free by your county’s sheriff department) to sell nonferrous scrap other than aluminum cans
- SC law requires payment for copper and catalytic converters to be issued by check (other payments are made in cash through our ATM machine subject to limits)
- SC law prohibits purchase of manhole covers, storm grates or HVAC coils (except w/ bill of sale for replacement) from individuals
- Vehicle must have a legible VIN. If vehicle is 12 years old or less seller must present title, magistrate’s order of sale or sheriff’s certificate. If vehicle is more than 12 years old seller must present any of the above or a signed affidavit of disposal from SCDMV
North Carolina Laws:
- An unexpired driver’s license or state issued photo ID is required
- NC law prohibits cash payment for copper
- NC law requires payments greater than $100.00 to be issued by check
Only one cash transaction per day is allowed per customer - NC law prohibits purchase of utility items, such as access covers, guard rails, traffic signs, railroad track components, historical markers or any grave marker or burial vase
- Central air conditioner evaporator coils or condensers cannot be purchased, except from a company or contractor with a valid NC HVAC contractor license
- Vehicles must have a legible VIN. If vehicle is 10 years old or older, no title is required.
